Patient
FAQs

Here you will find real patient questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here, please contact us.
1

Does atmospheric pressure affect the infusion?

No, a change in atmospheric pressure does not affect. DOSI-FUSER® can be worn in an airplane, and in a hyperbaric chamber as long as the reservoir and the patient are inside the same chamber.

2

Is it normal for the infusion to end sooner or later than planned?

Normally it will end within ± 10% of the expected time. For instance, 5 hours variance for a 48 hours infusion. Occasionally within ± 15%.

3

What are the recommendations regarding temperature?

Avoid exposure to heating pads or other direct heat sources.
Protect DOSI-FUSER® from freezing temperatures by keeping it under clothing. Protect it from direct heat.
Keep the capillary device in contact with the skin at 32ºC (90ºF).

4

Where should I place the DOSI-FUSER® during sleep?

Place the DOSI-FUSER® under the pillow or in another place that is at the same level. Do not hang it from any bedpost or drip stand. Do not leave it on the floor.

5

Can I have an MRI with DOSI-FUSER®?

The DOSI-FUSER® has two small metallic parts on the balloon fixation. It is recommended to keep the reservoir outside the 6 Gaus area to avoid interference with the image. If a metal accessory such as the Aligator Clip is attached to DOSI-FUSER®, this must also be kept out of the safety area.

6

How should I wash the DOSI-FUSER®?

It is not necessary to wash it. Do not use alcohol or other solvents for this purpose.

7

Can I take a shower with the DOSI-FUSER® connected?

Yes. If you take a shower or bath, protect the DOSI-FUSER® from direct running water. In particular, make sure the filter hole is protected from water, as the air removal membrane could be damaged.

8

May I exercise with the DOSI-FUSER® connected?

Yes. Moderate exercise is acceptable with the DOSI-FUSER®, but you should consider the following:
• Height of the container.
• The temperature.
• Avoid getting the filter wet.

9

How do I know that DOSI-FUSER® is working properly?

Check that the scale indicator white bar is moving down through the printed blue scale during the infusion. Bear in mind it may take a few hours before you can see noticable movement of the white bar, depending upon the duration of your infusion. The indicator will arrive to or close to zero when the infusion ends.

10

Shall I stop the infusion if I am feeling unwell?

Contact your healthcare provider if you feel unwell. If you are requested to stop the infusion by your healthcare provider, then slide the blue clamp over the tubing to stop infusion.
